Mi

2010. godina. Besparica. I šta čoveku ostaje?

   Us

Year 2010. A long winter, a rainy summer, and an even worse fall. The global warming cannot keep us warm. The temperatures over 35 degrees remain in the past. Slowly, slowly we take steps towards the overall improvement. Destitution. What is left? Fortunately, plenty of - my family. It’s been nine years since Sara was born and since we became Us. In the past three years I have had two solo art shows and have never painted my daughter. I felt bad because of it. This exhibition is dedicated, first and foremost, to Sara and to our little family. It was easy and difficult at the same time to create this concept. I was a little worried about how it will all turn out. Fortunately, satisfaction I felt after finishing the first painting, and then another one, and so forth, convinced me that I was doing the right thing. Without any irony, or a wish to express my attitude towards the environment, without a politically correct or an incorrect approach, with no desire to provoke, or a need to express some ‘major’ or ‘small’ ideas, I decided to turn to what’s truly the most important thing in my life – to my family, Sara and Svetlana, my daughter and my wife, and me with them - Us.

I loved the freedom of painting one painting at a time, starting over with every piece that followed. The characters have been painted in different fashions, I was inconsistent in terms of the palette. Painting for the sake of painting. A superb entertainment.

This introverted art show consists of nineteen paintings in various formats made in acrylic on canvas; several of

which can even be presented as a triptych. But not necessarily...
